As a UA Local 525 apprentice, there’s no more gambling on your future. Throughout your five-year program, you’ll receive classroom training from the top instructors in our area and learn alongside the most skilled craftsmen and women in Las Vegas. Every day is different, and every jobsite presents new and exciting challenges and opportunities to test your skills.

525 JATC Overview

Choose your path in Building Trades (plumbing and pipefitting) or HVACR Service. Both programs will give you a debt-free education and excellent job opportunities after graduation, not to mention incredible earning potential as you continue through your career as a UA Local 525 member. Best of all, you’re investing in yourself as you build a rewarding career (and your community) from the ground up!

No experience? No problem. As long as you’re self-motivated, reliable and interested in a successful career, we’d love to hear from you. All the skills you need can be learned in the program.

Have trades-related experience or certifications? Be sure to list it on your application! UA Local 525 has a unique application process that’s based on cumulative points. Each candidate is scored based on their education, work experience and testing. A minimum overall score of 20 points (including a math test score of 7.5 or higher) is required to move on in the interview process.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old to apply to the Local 525 apprenticeship program. You’ll also need to show proof of the following documents:

  • Copy of high school diploma or GED, with accompanying transcripts
  • Copy of birth certificate or passport
  • Copy of Social Security card
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Copy of military DD-214 (if applicable)

Yes! Local 525 offers a fully-funded apprenticeship program, provided the candidate complies with the terms of the apprenticeship. Our five-year program is the equivalent of a $45,000 education!

A high school diploma signifies you attended and passed all required classes in a traditional high school. A General Educational Development Test (GED) is a 7-hour test showing you passed four high school equivalency tests: language arts, math, social studies and science skills. Both are generally accepted to register for college and apply for jobs.

Yes, Local 525 allows apprentices to travel if there’s a downturn in available work locally. It’s critical for our future tradesmen and women to receive the best classroom and hands-on training, and we take that commitment seriously.

Opened in 2020, Allegiant Stadium is the home field of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders. The facility features 65,000 seats, a retractable natural turf field, a translucent roof and walls that open to spectacular views of the Strip. To complete the $1.97 billion project, nearly 1,100 local apprentices were utilized in the completion of this $1.97 billion project, giving them valuable on-the-job learning opportunities.

Brightline West will be America’s first true high-speed passenger rail system. The modern, eco-friendly system will redefine train travel in America and connect two of our country’s most iconic destinations: Las Vegas and Southern California. Construction is expected to take about four years with service beginning in 2028.

At 68 stories, Fontainebleau Las Vegas is the second-tallest structure in Nevada, just under the Stratosphere observation tower. This ultra-luxurious, $3.7 Billion resort stretches across 25 acres of the North Vegas Strip, with 3,780 rooms, a 150,000 square-foot casino, 90,000 square-foot of luxury retail space, a high-tech nightclub and more inside.
