Rise to the Challenge: Local 525 Apprentice Competition Registration (click here)

We are excited to launch the Local 525 JATC Apprentice Exchange, a Facebook forum dedicated to apprentices of the Local 525 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). This platform was inspired by Nicholas Stellavato, who envisioned a space where apprentices could connect, share experiences, and support each other.

The forum is designed for apprentices at any stage of their journey to:

  • Exchange Knowledge: Share tips and resources.
  • Get Advice: Ask questions and seek guidance.
  • Stay Informed: Receive updates on training and events.
  • Build Community: Connect with peers and form lasting relationships.

To join, simply search "Local 525 JATC Apprentice Exchange" in the Facebook search bar and click "Join" to become a member.

Local 525 Future Leadership Committee (FLC), led by President Antonio Barragan, has launched an Instagram page, Local 525FLC, to offer a behind-the-scenes look at the daily life of apprentices in plumbing, pipefitting, welding, and HVAC. The page challenges the misconception that these trades involve only basic tasks, showcasing the complex and hands-on work apprentices perform. It emphasizes the skills required and encourages young people to consider trade schools as a rewarding alternative to traditional college, highlighting the benefits of learning on the job in a supportive environment.

The Open Door Program, created by Natasha Zartarian, offers a space for students who need a place to go before school, especially if they don't have enough time to make it home before class. This initiative is designed to help students catch up on homework, handle personal tasks, or ask peers for assistance in a relaxed, no-pressure environment.

Details:

  • When: Monday and Tuesday, from 2:00 PM to 4:15 PM
  • Where: Room #206
  • What:
    • Handle personal business
    • Ask peers for help
    • Catch up on homework
    • No obligations or responsibilities—this time is for you
    • At 4:00 PM, the group will briefly review the Constitution, By-Laws, and MLA format

This program is aimed at creating a supportive environment where students can get organized and feel more prepared without feeling overwhelmed. Natasha Zartarian’s goal is to provide an open space for students to succeed academically and personally, offering a stress-free way to manage their time before school.
